The high-octane clash will be the first ever meeting between Bayern and Leverkusen in a major European competition. The German league holders appear to have the upper hand based on recent results though. Under manager Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen are undefeated in their six matches against Bayern across all competitions (three wins, three draws).

Home team Bayern,66br meanwhile, are on top of the Bundesliga standings currently with 61 points from 24 games, and came from behind to prevail 3-1 at VfB Stuttgart in their previous encounter. The upcoming face-off with Leverkusen is one of three games in the space of six days for the Bavarians.

"You just have to stay calm and prepare for the next game and that's what the team has done and will continue to do," he added. "That's what I've done throughout my career and that will never change, no matter what happens."
